Patrik Antonius wins largest ever online poker pot

Finnish high-stakes pro Patrik Antonius has stolen the limelight from newcomer to the high stakes games – Isildur1. Isildur1 was up over $6 million on Full Tilt Poker prior to last nights heads-up action against Patrik Antonius.

This past week everyone has been anticipating the largest pot online to be won by Isildur1 or Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan because of their epic heads-up games, but Patrik Antonius has stole the show with his straight defeating Isildur1’s two pair, which Antonius actually held too.

Both players began the hand with the following hands at the $500/$1000 Pot-Limit Omaha tables:

Isildur1 – Qd-10h-Ks-As with a $450,494.50 stack.

Patrik Antonius – 6h-Ah-Qc-9s with a $439,479.50 stack.

Isildur1 started the action raising the pot to $3,000 with Antonius just calling.

Then the flop of 5h-7h-Qs came which Antonius checked to Isildur1. The aggressive Swede then bet $5,000 before Antonius re-raised to $21,000. Isildur1 slowed down this time and decided to just call and see the turn.

The Ad came on the turn and Antonius led out, betting $48,000. Isildur1 then re-raised to $192,000, before Antonius shoved all-in for his whole stack of $415,479.50. The railbirds at Full Tilt Poker were going mad in the chat box, and things got even crazier when Isildur1 pressed the call button to create the largest pot in online poker history of $878,958.50.

Their was a 62.5% chance that the pot would be split between both players, however the 8d on the river sent the massive pot to Patrik Antonius as they created online history. The amazing thing is that while Isildur1 is around at the high stake games, anything seems possible and it is quite possible we could see the record broken again in coming weeks.

This pot smashed the previous record which was held by Di ”Urindanger’ Dang when his Aces beat Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan’s Kings to win $723,938 in a NLHE game.
