James Akenhead wins Full Tilt Poker Million VIII
Young U.K poker pro James Akenhead has finally won his first television poker event – the Full Tilt Poker Million VIII for a payday of $500,000 after defeating a tough final table. He eventually defeated Finnish poker pro Juha Helppi to take down the event and the first prize of $500k.
2009 has been an exceptional year for Akenhead. Out of all the tournaments he has played and cashed in, he has only failed to make the final table twice this year. The biggest achievement has been without doubt final-tabling both the WSOP and WSOPE Main Events. He finished 9th at both final tables earning almost $1.5 million.
This win has been well overdue for Akenhead and many people in the U.K poker community feel he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. 2009 has cemented his place as one of the U.K’s best poker players and he is even a regular in the Full Tilt Poker cash games online now that he has a bolstered bankroll.
