Biggest Televised Poker Pot won by Tom Dwan
Filming for the fourth season of the Full Tilt Poker Million Dollar Cash Game has been completed in London, and features the largest ever televised pot – $1.1million, and yes you guessed it, it was won by internet poker sensation Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan.
The Million Dollar Cash Game is an invitation only event and only the best high-stakes poker players were invited, including Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Chris Ferguson and more. The series will air on television in January 2010. Each player had to buy-in to the event with at least $100,000, and there were several half-million dollar pots which all lead up to the astonishing $1.1million pot won by Dwan.
One of the early half-million pots saw ‘durrrr challenge’ opponents Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius both go all in pre-flop, with Dwan holding pocket Aces over Antonius’ pocket Kings. A King on the flop saw the $500k pot shipped to Patrik Antonius. Dwan quickly regained control of the table and won another half-million dollar pot against high-stakes poker player Cyril Mouly.
After 20 hours of crazy action, only 3 players were left at the table – Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan, with huge blinds of $1000/$2000 with a $200 ante. Now was the time for the biggest televised pot in poker history.
Tom Dwan held 6h 7h, while Phil Ivey held Ac 2h. Dwan raised before Ivey re-raised him, leaving Antonius to fold. Dwan called with his suited connectors to see a Qc-3d-5c flop, Ivey was the first to act and bet $40k into the pot which Dwan flat called, with both players needing a 4 to make straights. Both players got their wish on the turn with the 4h falling on the board, again Ivey bet, however Tom Dwan made a huge re-raise making it $240 for Ivey to go. Ivey took several minutes to think and analyse the hand before stating those two million dollar words – ‘all in’. Dwan snap called and showed 6h 7h to Ivey who was left reeling with his Ac 2h to see Jh on the river, and on the losing end of the biggest televised pot on history.
Young U.K poker pro Andrew Feldman also took part in the Million Dollar Cash Game earning a good $135k profit in the toughest cash game he has ever been part of.
